Description:

The Lagoon Nebula (M8) is a bright red star-forming region about 4,100 light-years away in the constellation Sagittarius. It contains young, hot stars and glowing clouds of gas, including a bright area called the Hourglass Nebula. The Trifid Nebula (M20) lies nearby and is known for its three dark dust lanes dividing a red emission nebula. It also includes blue reflection and dark nebulae, making it a rare combination of all three types. It’s about 5,200 light-years from Earth.
