Description:

Sh2-82, also known as the Little Cocoon Nebula, is a small emission nebula located about 3,600 light-years away in the constellation Sagittarius.

It glows red from ionized hydrogen gas energized by young stars forming within it. Surrounded by dark dust clouds, Sh2-82 is a beautiful example of a stellar nursery.
